At just 15 years old, Cheryl began her journey in the travel industry while working at the National Rent A Car franchise at the Port of Miami. Working her way to national leadership positions, Cheryl enjoyed a decade long career in the car rental industry. After graduating with a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Georgia, Cheryl accepted a position with Worldspan (now Travelport). She held various leadership positions throughout her 13+ year tenure in travel technology. Notably, she served as Vice President of Major Accounts and was responsible for the company’s largest travel agency clients. In 2002, she was honored by Travel Weekly as one of the most Powerful Women in Travel.
Some of Cheryl’s favorite trips include: glamping for a week in the arctic experiencing (safely) a polar bear encounter; seeing all Big 5 on her first game drive in South Africa; visiting a boy’s shelter (which she still financially supports) in New Dehli where young boys are rescued from living on the streets; and enjoying a two-hour talk with a professor of women’s studies in Morocco about the challenges women face in an evolving but still traditional Muslim culture.
