Prior to joining Valerie Wilson Travel ten years ago, Cheryl held senior management positions on the supplier side of the travel industry, with Worldspan L.P and Dollar Rent A Car. In 2009, Cheryl fulfilled her dream of owning her own travel management company. She aligned her company, The Travel Collection, with Valerie Wilson Travel in 2012 and tripled the sales revenues over an 8-year period. In 2020, she sold her company to Valerie Wilson Travel and accepted a leadership position as Director Associate Access. In her role, she is responsible for talent acquisition focused on “career changers” and budding entrepreneurs – guiding them with the best practices of running a successful travel company.
Some of Cheryl’s favorite trips include: glamping for a week in the arctic experiencing (safely) a polar bear encounter; seeing all Big 5 on her first game drive in South Africa; visiting a boy’s shelter (which she still financially supports) in New Dehli where young boys are rescued from living on the streets; and enjoying a two-hour talk with a professor of women’s studies in Morocco about the challenges women face in an evolving but still traditional Muslim culture.
