I am originally from Indiana and moved out to New York City for college, where I met my husband, and the rest is history! We now have two daughters and live in Westport, CT. Other than traveling, I love to cook and spend time with family and friends.
When I travel, I love to experience Michelin star restaurants as well as the mom & pop secret find restaurants. I love 5-star luxury hotels as well as the 4 star boutique; whatever is authentic and in a great location. I believe service is more important than decor, but it’s nice to have both!
The Azores, which is a new emerging destination due to Delta new non-stop flights that operate during the summer. It is an archipelago of islands off the coast of Portugal, and easily accessible via Lisbon for a pre or post trip. It’s a wonderful destination to discover before the masses do! Relatively inexpensive, non-touristy, and geared towards outdoor adventure.
When one thinks of Iceland, they don’t think about scuba diving, but this is a “must”! Whether you scuba dive or just want to snorkel, this is one of the most unique experiences you’ll ever do in your life. The excursion takes place between the two tectonic plates of Europe and North America, and there is a point during your journey where you can stretch out your arms and essentially be touching both continents. It is indeed cold, due to the water being glacier, but it’s worth it!
I became a Travel Consultant of Valerie Wilson Travel in 2012, specializing in leisure and celebration travel, particularly multi-gen trips, honeymoons, destination weddings, anniversary trips, birthday celebrations, family getaways, and many more. I grew up in the travel industry with my father still an airline pilot to this day and my mother planning yoga retreats and humanitarian trips around the world. I have been to over 50 countries, 6 continents, and counting!
