I love curating travel experiences that offer moments of genuine discovery. Adventures that create strong emotional bonds to the places and people that share in the moment.
I am an active traveler – I enjoy bike rides, hikes, followed by relaxing leisurely lunches or dinners in the company of others. I also love diving in, before an adventure, to learn more about the culture of a destination – what are the most popular movies, music or authors? What are the dishes I must absolutely try when I am there? I never feel more alive and excited than when I am traveling, discovering, sharing, connecting.
Any mountain lake but if I have to choose, then it’s a toss up between Lake Como, Italy and Lake Bled, Slovenia.
Any of the tiny sushi bars at the Tsukiji market in Tokyo. It is a ‘close your eyes and savor every bite’ experience. Locals will help you master the art of sushi selection, eating and stacking your color coded plates.
My very first trip outside the US was to Moscow in 1988 as part of a language study abroad program. I was 19 years old. I fell in love with the discovery of it all – new language, customs, geography, literature. After graduation I took a job as a management consultant and for the next 30 years I traveled extensively for my work, and for pleasure. I’ve gone swimming in Lake Bled, ridden elephants in Chiang Mai and danced the merengue in Caracas. I’ve shopped for winter coats in Kazakhstan, Berber rugs in Morocco and hanboks in Seoul. I was bitten by a scorpion in Manaus and jumped out of a moving taxi near Gorky Park (not all travel goes as planned…). I have worked with colleagues to launch Gallo wines in France, Berlitz English programs in Japan and Avenues Global Journeys programs to Ecuador. I have been observer and organizer, guest and host, traveler and local citizen. All these adventures have been in the company of colleagues and friends from around the world who have shared in my joy and enriched my journey.
I am delighted to take the experience and my passion for travel to curate programs and moments of discovery and connection for others.
