In February 2022 I was lucky enough to be hosted for the first luxury leisure FAM trip to the newly opened Reykjavik EDITION with key agents from Virtuoso.
We were able to explore Iceland by snow mobile, super jeep, land, water, and the destination is BREATHTAKING!
The property opened in November 2021, and is in preview mode, ramping up for their peak season this summer. The hotel is situated on the water alongside the old harbor with views of snow-capped mountains in the distance, just steps away from Harpa Concert Hall and Laugavegur, the city’s oldest shopping street. From the hotel you can walk to whale-watching excursions, incredible restaurants, bakeries with delicious fresh baked treats, and lots of cute shops!
The Reykjavik EDITON brings the first 5-star modern luxury experience to one of the world´s most sustainable capitals, Reykjavik Iceland.
Iceland, known as the land of fire and ice, is famous for its volcanos and massive glaciers, but it has so much more to explore (Blue lagoon and a number of other hot springs, geysers, golfing, heli-skiing, hiking, the Northern lights, and countless waterfalls.)
The hotel has 253 guest rooms, including 155 connecting rooms and 25 Suites, some with terraces, offer unparalleled views of the city’s famous harbor and mountains. 77% are upgradable room types.
Dining and entertainment start with the signature restaurant TIDES spearheaded by Michelin Star Chef, a coffee/pastry shop, a rooftop bar overlooking Reykjavik, a lobby bar, EDITION’s signature cocktail bar TOLT (which requires an ever-rotating password for entrance), and a night club in the basement. Guests will also enjoy a world-class SPA and Hammam.
Day excursions can be booked through the property’s guest experience team, or by our own DMC partners. We had the opportunity to experience multiple day excursions hosted by DMC partners Nordic Luxury, Iceland Encounter, and Hidden Iceland. Nordic Luxury and Iceland Encounter are Virtuoso partners and can create bespoke dinners, coordinate helicopter experiences landing on a volcano or a glacier, heli-skiing, anything you can imagine really, glacier excursions into hidden caves, or drive you to the most famous sites and waterfalls. There is something for everyone and at anyone’s comfort level with extreme to very “easy” walks to see some of the sites.
Hidden Iceland does have a few “self-drive” itineraries which allow for agents to sell to their clients and be able to tailor make the itinerary based on the guests’ own interests and schedule.
The most popular day trips from Reykjavik are the “South Coast”, and the “Golden Circle” as well as visiting the Blue Lagoon, and the newly opened Sky Lagoon, closer to the city.
It is a destination that is truly remarkable to experience. I cannot wait to return and am excited to share my feedback and encourage you all to visit this new partner hotel!
