Punta Mita

Punta Mita is a 1,500-acre private peninsula coined the ultimate luxury travel destination. Surrounded by infamously clear water on all three sides, Punta Mita is known as being a haven of privacy, serenity, and opulence for celebrities and luxury connoisseurs alike. In 2014, Bill Gates even bought forty-eight acres of undeveloped beachfront land along with the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. A breezy, mild climate year-round and easy scenic drive from Puerto Vallarta International Airport (or private terminal on the peninsula for private jets and chartered planes) makes Punta Mita one of the most coveted sunny hideaways.

What we would do:

Golf. Punta Mita is home to two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses – the famed Pacifico course is widely regarded as the world’s best golf course. This course features eight ocean-view holes and the notorious “Tail of the Whale.” The world’s only natural island golf green is located on a natural rock formation and serves as a sweet spot for whale watching.

Local art and culture. Punta Mita is home to the Huichol Indians who believed the area to be a retreat for spiritual renewal. The name itself originates from the Aztec word “mictlan,” which translates to “gateway to paradise.” The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort and Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita both feature seasonal art displays and activities that take a deep dive into the rich history of the land and culture.

Adventure. The island is full of activities for those with a wild side. Horseback riding, ATV riding, canopy tours, and scuba diving to name a few. From December to April, migrating Humpback whales flood the waters, making private boat tours to get a magical glimpse a must.
