The Property

In 1876, the Hotel Sacher Wien was opened by Eduard Sacher, son of the creator of the Original Sacher-Torte and soon achieved worldwide renown as a meeting place for the nobility and international high-society. As the only luxury hotel in Vienna which is privately owned and run, it is important to the families Gürtler and Winkler to maintain traditions and keep the unique and personal ambience with old-world charm of the former Habsburg monarchy. Located directly across the Vienna State Opera, it is just minutes away from the Hofburg Imperial Palace with its Spanish Riding School and from all other culturally important attractions. The unique balance of maintained traditions and contemporary elements provide the most authentic sense of place. The completely refurbished rooms all feature individually collected antiques and original oil paintings, making it one of Austria’s largest private art collections. Home of the Original Sacher-Torte, guests can experience this culinary piece of history at the famous Café Sacher and Sacher Eck or opt for the “no-calories” version by Sacher Boutique Spa when it is “Time-to-Chocolate.”
